Scholarship Winner Makes the Grade
Each year, the St. Louis Gateway Chapter of the Association of the United States Army grants scholarships to deserving students at the annual Leadership Awards Banquet. This annual event recognizes Soldiers, local students and college bound high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence and ability.
The scholarship recipients submitted application forms and essays to the chapter for consideration and were evaluated based on their academic record and responses to the critical thinking essays on current events affecting the United States Army. The AUSA awards these scholarships in several categories and the awards range from $1000 to $3000.
Erin Taft received an AUSA scholarship before leaving for her freshman year of college. Now a senior at Truman State University, she is ready to go to medical school. She plans to pursue family and emergency medicine. Erin continues to demonstrate her leadership attributes while at college. She has been a cheerleader all four years of college and is in her second year as the team captain.
Erin is a proud supporter of the AUSA and thanks the St. Louis Gateway Chapter for her well deserved scholarship. "My scholarship has helped my family and I with the financial burden of college." |
